Thanks for reading! I'll jump straight into this.
Art is constantly made. Whether by mental illness, creative vision, or inspiration and insight; to name a few methods. It is never ending. What are some ways you create or find inspiration? I read somewhere that pareidolia is the term for the mind taking ambiguous figures and forming objects, often faces. I also read somewhere that this is a possible sign of apophenia which is a symptom of often undiagnosed schizophrenia.
So, which is it? Is creativity, human individual visions, generated from experiences or ideas formed? Or a sign you might need to be medicated and seek therapy? If we want to be deep about this, consider this. When you look at something, it's nearly assumed the person's sharing an experience are seeing the same thing and registering the same memory. I have found that this is not true. Have you had this happen or experienced it?
I've found even with persons that were present for heavy or traumatic experiences, the event remains in memory; but what's said, who was there, what was seen, isn't matched or agreed upon. Nor was the meaning or message behind the event shared the same. This hurt for many reasons. As a near pack rat of family items I have held diaries, journals, family photos, videos, cards, and notes. These were reminders of the events. It was my reference and I held them with the thought my memory was bound to deteriorate with age. Come to find out, the average person doesn't remember most events or memories at all.
This was alienating and depressing. And nearly invalidated any references from the pain that is left due to the facts. Someday, art, history, or otherwise, none of what we've seen will match exactly to anyone. It won't matter what I, or others look upon in a shared time. All that will matter is what you see. So, value your vision and focus on your indvidual message.
Where do you experience this? If you had to choose, which do you think is more important? Whether someone could accurately remember something exactly and feel the same as you do? Or is it, that someone could understand your vision and creations?
